Throughout the year, fraternities and sororities contribute to campus life by sponsoring educational, service, and social activities for the University and surrounding communities. The organizations encourage high academic standards and provide opportunities for campus involvement, networking, and leadership development.
Students and Parents,
Thank you for your interest in fraternity and sorority life at George Mason University. On behalf of the amazing Fraternity & Sorority community here at George Mason University let me take this opportunity to tell you about all of the benefits of involvement in a Greek Letter organization.
Making the decision to join a Greek Letter organization can be a challenging and rewarding experience. Greek Letter organizations provide many students with opportunities to explore the different areas of collegiate life. Students involved in fraternity & sorority life participate in numerous student leadership programs, intramural sports, philanthropic projects, community service events, and participate in social events which promote brotherhood and sisterhood.
Involvement in Greek Letter organizations can provide students with a plethora of developmental opportunities. Many students involved in fraternity & sorority life have the opportunity to develop transferable skills including, resource management, budgeting, event planning & coordination, civic engagement, and have the opportunity to partner and collaborate with a diverse range of peers and community members.
George Mason University is currently home to 37 Greek Letter organizations. Over the past few years our community has experienced tremendous growth in the number of Greek organizations. Last year alone our community added 6 organizations and we are poised to continue to grow over the next few years as well. We urge you to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in this growth and take advantage of this wonderful experience. Thanks for your interest and we hope you enjoy your time at Mason!
Sincerely,
Christopher M. Jefferson
